Moral Dilemmas for GCs
atCorporate leaders face increasing pressure from multiple stakeholders, forcing difficult choices at the edge of legal, commercial and ethical boundaries. For General Counsel and other legal leaders, this can create challenging moral dilemmas. What do you do when management’s decisions conflict with your own judgement, values or conscience?
After a surprising opening, Reverend Joost Röselaers will kick off the afternoon at De Rode Hoed. He will then further explore the theme in a three-way conversation with Lieve Declercq (CEO at Strukton). The program will continue with Speed Dates, a special intermezzo, and two rounds of GCN Roundtables. The afternoon will conclude with GCN Drinks. The afternoon offers plenty of opportunity to meet and connect with fellow GCs. We warmly welcome you to join us!

GCN keynote speakers
Joost Röselaers – Reverend, author and essayist Het Financieele Dagblad
Joost, who grew up abroad, is, in addition to his work as a Reverend for the Remonstrant Church in Amsterdam and Bussum, actively involved in various boards, politics, and public debate. He has authored several collections and is, among other roles, an essayist for Het Financieele Dagblad. He also publishes regularly in NRC Handelsblad. His latest collection was published at the end of last year and is titled De Leegte Voorbij (Beyond the Void). It consists of conversations he and psychiatrist Esther van Fenema had with thinkers from a wide range of backgrounds, exploring themes of meaning and connectedness.
Lieve Declercq – CEO at Strukton
Lieve Declercq has been CEO of Strukton Group since March 2025. After earning a degree in Industrial Engineering and Management from KU Leuven, she started her career at ExxonMobil and subsequently held executive leadership positions at Van Gansewinkel Group (now Renewi), Vitens, and SPIE.
Strukton is a leading Dutch infrastructure and railway construction company, employing approximately 4,000 people and generating annual revenues of around €1.5 billion. The company plays a key role in the development, maintenance, and modernization of critical transport and infrastructure networks in the Netherlands and beyond.
In addition to her executive responsibilities, Lieve serves on several supervisory and management boards, including Aalberts and Ramboll.
