Data Governance has become a core strategic topic for GCs and their legal teams. Its relevance for GCs is not only in the technology, but especially in the privacy and compliance responsibilities around data use and access. When governance around personal data is not sufficiently clearly established, it can have direct consequences in the form of data breaches, surveillance questions and reputational damage and directly affects the responsibility of the GC and the board.
